On September 9, 2010, we had our Cyber Cafe Grand Re-openning with special guest speakers, Laura Trejo, General Manager of Department of Aging, SBSS Board Chair, Jodi Cohn with SCAN Health Plan, and Janice Burrill, Senior VP and Philanthropic Consultant with Wells Fargo. We have upgraded our Cyber Café with 10 brand new Dell computers and we now have Wi-Fi capabilities. Thank you to Wells Fargo for granting us the funds that have made this upgrade possible and keeping our Cyber Café a place for life long learning. The prevailing idea about adult learning is that adults will learn what is immediately relevant to them and/or helps them solve problems. |
| The Borchardt Cyber Cafe provides Wi-Fi Internet access for seniors, including email and webcams that allow them to see and talk to people around the world. Seniors can schedule one-on-one instruction or use the computer on personal time, with staff and volunteers to assist as needed. Computers are programmed for numerous languages to suit the senior's preferences. |
| Seniors not using computers are welcome to spend time enjoying company, coffee and pastries. |
