SBSS Awards
|
Over the past decade, St. Barnabas has been honored with numerous awards from local to national organizations. As well, we have a considerable record of accomplishment for creating model programs and disseminating the details of their creation and success for the use of others. In October 2011, SBSS President and CEO Rigo Saborio was awarded the Megan G. Cooper Leadership Award from the Executive Service Corps of Southern California. This award recognizes an outstanding individual for achievement, leadership and vision in leading a successful nonprofit organization dedicated to providing essential charitable services to the community. In September 2011, SBSS Driver and Program Aide Luz Miryam Jance was awarded the 2011 Jim Segal Award for Passion and Commitment to Adult Day Services. This award is presented annually to an exemplary employee of an adult day center who shows outstanding service and care for participants with dementia. Miryam has been with SBSS for over 10 years, and is known for her love and compassion for people with special needs. She was selected from a large group of nominees representing five counties in Southern California. In September 2011, SBSS President and CEO Rigo Saborio was selected as “Advocate of the Year” by the Congress of California Seniors. Each year, CCS gives an award to an individual who has made a significant impact in the field of aging. Rigo was selected by a committee of their Board of Directors for the work he has done for seniors including his work at St. Barnabas Senior Services, the L.A. Aging Advocacy Coalition, the Senior Center Forum, and with advocacy in the community. |
