St. Barnabas Senior Services has won the Grantmakers in Aging (GIA) Diversity Award for our AGEnts for Change program. The GIA Diversity Award recognized national, regional and local programs that embrace diversity as a fundamental element in all levels of their work in aging.
The AGEnts for Change are individuals from all cultures, backgrounds and life experiences that come together to advocate for the rights of older adults and inspire others to do the same. Through AGEnts for Change, SBSS trains a diverse, under-served group of older adults to become Lead Advocates and AGEnts who, in turn, educate policymakers and mobilize their peers on critical issues, including: food security, safe housing, healthcare, and creating aging-friendly neighborhoods.
AGEnts for Change is the only program in Los Angeles County to recruit, educate, and engage older adults as facilitators for their own advocacy. LEARN MORE.
