We are thrilled to have dietitian Lilia Bolgov from Kaiser Permanente to discuss the latest facts and counseling relevant to nutrition. She practiced clinical nutrition for over 10 years at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, UC Irvine Medical Center, and is currently with Kaiser Permanente. SBSS Director of Communications & Development, Michael Bayless will speak on how SBSS is continuing to keep our older adults as safe and healthy as possible.

This program explored the intricate and complex dynamics that frequently exist between caregivers and those for whom they care. It is a challenging, fulfilling and yet stressful relationship that often invokes years of familial history, and is now impacting more than 30% of all Americans annually.
Social Isolation and Loneliness

Humans are social creatures. However, as we age, our world often begins to shrink. Many factors, such as the loss of loved ones and friends, mobility and health challenges, or the disconnectedness created by a change in living situations or cultural context, all can lead to the experience of feeling isolated and lonely. Now viewed almost as deadly as malnutrition, loneliness and social isolation can have grave consequences for older adults' health and longevity. In this program we talked about how social policy, housing and other factors are contributing to this critical problem.

This program looked at the complex relationships between healthcare providers, insurers, and government programs that make up the American system, and the importance of being a self-advocate when it comes to your health.

This program addressed the current issues surrounding family caregivers with a panel discussion. The expert panelists discussed the latest research, provided tips and suggestions, and analyzed the latest trends in care giving. They acknowledged that caregivers often face numerous challenges that can leave them anxious and overwhelmed.
