Celebrating a Successful Senior Prom

Every year, the SBSS Senior Prom brings older adults together for a day of celebration, friendship, and fun.

Participants arrived dressed to impress, ready to reconnect with friends, enjoy a great meal, dance to their favorite songs, and make new memories. Throughout the day, the room was filled with laughter, music, and conversation. From keepsake photos at the photo booth to exciting raffle prizes, every detail helped make the celebration unforgettable.

Events like Senior Prom create opportunities for older adults to stay socially connected, build new friendships, and remain engaged in their community. Events like ours provide social engagement which supports healthier aging by encouraging physical activity, emotional well-being, and a greater sense of belonging. That's why creating experiences like Senior Prom remains an important part of SBSS's mission.

This celebration would not have been possible without the incredible support of our community. We are grateful to our SBSS Board of Directors for their continued leadership and commitment to our mission. We also extend a special thank you to Board Member Arden Teplow for her generous support of this year's event. Thank you to the volunteers from The Ebell of Los Angeles (Miranda Butler, Laura Scott, and Aish Jain) for warmly welcoming guests and helping make the day run smoothly. We also appreciate Kitchens To Go for providing a wonderful lunch that brought everyone together around the table.

A heartfelt thank you to Starbucks, SusieCakes, USS Midway Museum, Kendra Scott, Curves, St. Vincent de Paul, Santa Monica Pier, Sock Club, My Friend's House LA, The Huntington, GourmetGiftBaskets.com, Hollywood Wax Museum, GoodRx, Smart & Final, and Health Net for their generous donations of raffle prizes, refreshments, and gifts. Their support added excitement throughout the day and helped create lasting memories for our participants.

Of course, no prom would be complete without music. Our DJ kept the dance floor full from start to finish, while the photo booth and goodie bags gave participants special keepsakes to take home.

The true success of Senior Prom wasn't measured by the decorations or the entertainment. It was measured by the smiles, laughter, and friendships shared throughout the day. Seeing participants reconnect, make new friends, and celebrate together is exactly why SBSS continues to invest in events that bring older adults together.

To every sponsor, volunteer, donor, community partner, and participant, thank you. Your generosity made this celebration possible and demonstrated the power of community in creating meaningful experiences for older adults.

We're already looking forward to doing it all again this December at our Annual Snow Ball.

If you'd like to be part of this year's celebration, we'd love to hear from you. Whether you're interested in volunteering, joining the Snow Ball planning committee, becoming a sponsor, or making a donation, your support helps us continue creating memorable experiences for older adults across Los Angeles.
