We are excited to be serving meals at Grand Plaza Senior Apartments in Chinatown. Currently serving over 80 meals on a daily basis serves as a powerful reminder of both the need and the strength of this community.
Our connection to Grand Plaza runs deep. When a devastating fire displaced older adults from an apartment complex in Chinatown, many were forced into temporary housing and faced uncertainty during an already difficult time. SBSS stepped in to provide meals to these displaced older adults, ensuring they had consistent nourishment and a sense of care when they needed it most.
As time passed, Grand Plaza Senior Apartments became a permanent home for many of those same older adults, welcoming them into a vibrant senior community. Through that transition, SBSS remained a constant partner. Today, that ongoing relationship has grown into a new phase of support.
Serving meals Monday through Friday, SBSS is proud to provide more than just nutritious food at Grand Plaza. Each meal is also an opportunity for conversation, connection, and community. It’s a space where older adults can gather, build relationships, and feel a true sense of belonging.
From crisis response to community building, this partnership reflects what SBSS is all about: showing up, staying connected, and helping older adults live well, feel well, and age well.
